I wish if Bose also put some efforts to make a new app. Moved over to Sonos as their app is miles ahead of Bose.

Unfortunately Dolby atmos is not delivered through optical connections according to Bose: https://www.boseapac.com/en_in/support/articles/HC2748/productCodes/bose_smart_soundbar_900/article.html
I personally am very disappointed in the lack of DTS. ... Removing it is shortsighted, and shows they are targeting streamers.
Little did I know that it would turn out to be a nightmare to update it. ... BOSE app cant list the device.
I had a lot of HDMI/CEC-Audio issues (no sound after some time after switching input types). However the latest firmware version v10 seems to have solved this issue.
It loses functionality and will get frequent interference from Bluetooth. I love it for music, but lots of unplug and restarts.
If you’re watching a movie at night, live in a flat or semi detached house, night mode makes all the frequencies volume at the same level. ... Don’t have to turn up the volume to listen dialogues and then quickly lower the volume when there’s some action scene going on.
It doesn't listen to commands and respond, AFAIK, like the 900 does.
same standard response. Try Direct IP method etc. If any of the methods didnt work they initiate replacement which will take 5weeks as its shipped from Poland.
Hello everyone, I have been thinking about replacing my Bose Soundbar 900 + Bass Module 700 and Rears 300 with a Teufel 5.1.2 system for a few days now. ... What do you think of the offer or even what do you think of the idea?
This worked for me:
✅ What Works
- Night mode dialogue balancing: owners report it evens out volume swings between quiet dialogue and loud action scenes, letting them skip constantly riding the volume during movies.
- Music playback quality: one owner said they "love it for music" despite connectivity frustrations elsewhere, suggesting core audio output holds up for casual listening.
⚠️ Worth Knowing
- Firmware updates are the most frequently reported issue: owners describe the update process as "a nightmare," with the Bose app failing to detect or list the device mid-update.
- App and software complaints recur separately from firmware: owners say Bose's app lags competitors like Sonos, with at least one switching brands over it.
- Connectivity can be unstable: owners report frequent Bluetooth interference that costs functionality and requires repeated unplug-and-restart cycles.
- Codec and Atmos limitations frustrate non-streaming setups: Dolby Atmos isn't delivered over optical connections, and DTS support was removed entirely.
Owners report a soundbar caught between strong dialogue tuning and recurring software headaches: night mode is frequently praised for **evening out volume swings between quiet dialogue and loud action scenes**, while firmware updates are the single most-mentioned complaint, with one owner describing the process as "a nightmare" after the Bose app failed to even list the device. Connectivity issues surface too, with owners noting frequent Bluetooth interference that forces repeated unplug-and-restart cycles, and several say Bose's companion app lags behind competitors like Sonos. Codec support draws further frustration, as Dolby Atmos isn't delivered over optical connections and DTS support was dropped entirely, disappointing owners who don't stream. The tension here is real: the dialogue tuning and core audio earn praise, but **firmware and app reliability are reported as the recurring failure point** across the majority of owner feedback. Buyers running it wirelessly over HDMI eARC who rarely touch firmware updates may be satisfied, but **anyone relying on optical connections, DTS sources, or a polished companion app should pass**.
