I just used mine for the first time, and I made 5 eggs using the 6 medium egg recommendations; 2oz water and I set a timer for 10 minutes, but the cooker went off at about 2 minutes left - so I let it sit until 1 minute left before putting them in the ice bath. When I peeled, I got the exact results I think you are looking for!!

I have lost/misplaced my Dash measuring cup. And after spending countless hours online, I have found that Dash apparently wants to keep the water amounts a secret from its adoring public. They also no longer sell replacement cups.

after 6 minutes cooking, 10 minutes in an ice bath with a bit of salt (to make them easier to peel until we get egg cups), they were very NEAR perfect. The yolks were perfect liquid gold,

I have one. It's nice. Very convenient. Faster than boiling because it only uses a little water.

I must have an old cooker. My measuring cup has etchings of an egg across from the words Hard, Medium and Soft. On the back it has Omelette and Poached. I did the initial just-in-case measurements as well, only used teaspoons and tablespoons. I also made notes on the timing. Guess I'll have to update my document. I also learned that DASH sells a replacement cup.

โœ… What Works

  • The Dash Egg Cooker makes perfect hard-boiled eggs with zero attention required. Add water to the marked fill line, load eggs, press the button, and walk away. When the water evaporates the machine shuts off and beeps. Eggs come out consistently at the correct doneness every time โ€” a task that boiling water on the stove never reliably achieves.
  • The egg-piercing pin on the measuring cup is a detail that matters โ€” piercing the shell before cooking prevents cracking and produces clean, easy-to-peel hard-boiled eggs. Unpierced eggs crack in water at higher rates; this simple pin eliminates that problem. New users often skip this step until they discover its purpose.
  • Versatility beyond hard-boiling is genuine: the steamer tray handles poached eggs, scrambled eggs, and vegetable steaming. For households who want eggs multiple ways from the same appliance, the included tray and bowl cover all common preparations without a pot of water or separate steamer.
  • At $39 and approximately 6 inches tall, the Dash Egg Cooker is a storage-friendly appliance that earns counter or cabinet space by being genuinely fast and reliable. Hard-boiled eggs in 12 minutes, hands-off, with perfectly peelable results โ€” it's the rare small appliance that does exactly one thing without compromise.

โš ๏ธ Worth Knowing

  • Water quantity controls doneness, not time โ€” adding more water produces harder eggs, less water produces softer eggs. The measuring cup marks three fill levels (Soft, Medium, Hard), which works well but requires reading the cup carefully. First-time users often add the wrong amount and get unexpected results.
  • The audible alert when cooking is complete is a single, quiet beep tone. If you're in another room or have background noise running, it's easy to miss. Some users set their own timer as a backup because the Dash alert isn't loud enough to reliably summon attention from another room.
  • Six-egg capacity is perfect for 1โ€“2 people but insufficient for meal-prepping a dozen hard-boiled eggs at once. Two batches takes about 25 minutes and requires refilling water and resetting โ€” manageable but not as efficient as a 12-egg model for batch cooking.
  • Mineral deposits from tap water build up in the base over time and should be descaled monthly with white vinegar. Neglecting this eventually reduces cooking efficiency and leaves a visible white coating inside the heating element. It's a 10-minute monthly maintenance task but it's necessary.
ClearPick Verdict

The Dash Rapid Egg Cooker earns a 9.1 because it does its job โ€” perfect hard-boiled eggs with zero attention โ€” better than any other method at any price. The quiet alert and water-based doneness system have small learning curves, but once understood, this $39 appliance produces consistently peelable, perfectly done eggs faster and more reliably than stovetop boiling. For anyone who eats boiled eggs regularly, it's one of the best small-appliance purchases available per dollar.
