It's a nice mid range laptop and the 120Hz display, NVME, and 16GB RAM makes it pretty snappy. If I didn't already have a work laptop and a gaming laptop, I'd keep it as a nice "couch laptop."

I can't speak to India specially but I know that its a common issue on these newer inspirons. I've fixed more than a dozen of these in the past year. Assuming the screen remains intact you can get away with replacing the back cover and reusing the hinges, you can remove the broken screen mounts from the hinges pretty easily using a screwdriver and a pair of pliers.
I just bought my new dell last week and the battery is just draining so fast even with the power saver mode on. it says there that it can run for two more hours even if it obviously can't. i only do school works and a little roblox from time to time, but I always go from 100% to 20% in less than an hour.
I have a Dell Inspiron 15 3520 and since I've got it I've had major issues with battery life. Advertisements say 6-8 hours of battery life whilst I only get 2 max. This is also with just a browser running and nothing else using windows power saving, chrome power saving etc etc.
I think that one has a 120hz display... you might get better battery life if you turn the refresh rate down to 60hz.
I think you can go as high as 64. I've tested 32 and it works fine
Thank you for confirming that! I wanted to add a 16gb stick in the extra slot (really don't need more than that), but the Dell chat associate told me it was 16gb max. Everywhere else said 64gb.
it was bought refurbished by dell, but my problem is im not sure if it's the computer that has problems using excessive battery or the battery just sucks. I ran a battery report and it's at i think 36000 out of 40 so I'm not sure if replacing the battery would help.
โ What Works
- Solid entry-level performance handles everyday tasks and light multitasking
- Highly upgradeable โ supports up to 64GB RAM despite limited Dell guidance
- Budget-friendly pricing with decent core specs for the cost
โ ๏ธ Worth Knowing
- Severe battery drain โ owners report 1โ2 hours vs. advertised 6โ8 hours
- Hinge failures reported within ~1.5 years on multiple units
- Windows battery diagnostics are unreliable, complicating troubleshooting
The Inspiron 15 3520 offers solid entry-level specs and exceptional upgrade headroom at a budget price, but two dominant failure patterns undermine its appeal. Battery life consistently falls short of Dell's 6โ8 hour claims: multiple independent owners report the laptop drains from 100% to 20% in under an hour during light tasks like schoolwork and browsing, even with power-saving modes enabled. Equally concerning, several owners report hinge failures within 1.5 years, described by repair technicians as a common pattern on newer Inspiron models. If you can keep it plugged in for daily use and tolerate potential durability issues, it's a capable, highly upgradeable budget option; if portability and long-term reliability are priorities, look to more durable alternatives.
