I want to like this cup, I just got it at Costco while on sale. So far, at 135 degrees, it does the same thing as other cups when you add milk/cream, it creates a thin film on top after awhile and then that film sticks to the sides when you drink it. :( I will turn it down a little to see if that issue stops.
Ember Mug 2 (10oz)
The Ember Mug 2 is a smart temperature-control mug that maintains your drink at a precise temperature (120–145°F) for up to 80 minutes per charge. It's built for daily desk use, especially with its included charging coaster that powers the mug while you drink.

The lid makes a huge difference in battery life. Shame on Ember for not including it as standard.
Just tried a lid and lowered temp to 130. Only 14% battery used in 22 minutes, that's awesome. Without lid at 135 we saw what, 36% battery used after 33 minutes. That's a big difference.
Do you have the 1 or the 2? Or are all 10oz mugs a 1? I thought I heard the 2 last an extra 30 mins. So a brand new 1 and a used 2 might run about the same time.
Did you have a lid on it when not drinking? This tip can extend the run time almost double..
I just set my mug on the coaster while I'm drinking it it stays charged
The temperature reported by the Ember app has been accurate once it's reached target temp, and it maintains the perfect target temperature within a degree the whole time.
✅ What Works
- Temperature control is remarkably precise—maintains within 1°F of your target throughout the sip
- Coaster charging keeps the mug perpetually powered during workday use; solves the battery anxiety
- Built for the slow-sip ritual; owners value the consistent temperature experience as a daily reward
- App is entirely optional—mug works standalone and remembers your last-used temperature setting
⚠️ Worth Knowing
- Battery life without a lid is weak (30–40 min at 135°F); lid is sold separately and significantly extends runtime
- Milk and cream produce a thin residue film at higher temperatures that sticks to the sides when drinking
- Not portable—coaster charging is required for practical all-day use
Owners consistently praise the Ember Mug 2's temperature accuracy—it maintains within a degree of your target (120–145°F). The included coaster charging solves the battery limitation for desk use; without it, expect 30–40 minutes of runtime at 135°F. The main friction points are weak standalone battery life (a lid sold separately extends this significantly) and milk-film residue that forms at higher temperatures. Buy this if you work at a desk and commit to coaster charging; avoid it if you need all-day portability or drink frequently with milk.
