I spoke to the HyperX team on chat, and they said there will be a firmware update soon to fix the removal of DTS... I was recommended to stick to the 4.1.1.4 dongle update and not to update to 4.1.2.2.
HyperX Cloud III Wireless
The HyperX Cloud III Wireless is the best all-around gaming headset under $200 CAD โ it delivers clear, punchy gaming audio, a great detachable mic for squad comms, and 100 hours of battery life that makes charging feel like a once-a-week chore. Lightweight, comfortable, and compatible with PC and PlayStation, it's the default recommendation for most Canadian gamers.

i play apex legends alot, and i think the cloud 3 is one of the best gaming headset for competitive gaming... comfort 10/10... build quality is good
I could definitely say it's a lot more durable than my old Razer Barracudas... the fact that the hinge is metal makes it a lot more durable... battery life, it's really good as well... Be wary if you're wearing glasses like me.
Just get the Cloud 3 Wireless... It sounds good... Mic is above Average... Battery life is superb... It's cheap and comfortable. Usually it goes around 90-100USD
in terms of build quality, sound signature, and functionality, they are perfect... my outer ear starts pressing against the driver cover. It leads to real discomfort during long meetings... my ears start sweating after two hours
That's nuts if true, I guess I'll never update the firmware on the headset as I refuse to use the bloatware beta app, they can p*** off installing a bunch of audio drivers lol
They also finally fixed white noise that appear in the right speaker if no sound is playing for 10 seconds... Finally I can turn off "listen to this device" option
My friend and I bought hyperx cloud 2 core and hyperx cloud 3 wireless 2 days ago... There is no difference except for the battery life.
cloud iii feels like cheating u can hear the footsteps so much better than with cloud ii
I just got mine last week and have been enjoying them but i do not like the weird faux leather ones it came with.
I tossed some wicked cushions ear pads on mine and they feel great. Blocks more outside noise as well.
โ What Works
- 2.4GHz wireless connection delivers lag-free audio with zero perceptible latency on PC and PlayStation โ the dedicated wireless dongle sidesteps the Bluetooth compression and latency that plagues gaming on consumer headphones
- 53mm angled drivers positioned to match natural ear anatomy deliver positional audio accuracy that competitive Canadian gamers consistently cite as better than most gaming headsets at this price
- DTS Headphone:X Spatial Audio creates accurate positional sound for competitive shooters โ footsteps, gunshots, and environmental cues place accurately in the soundfield
- 100-hour battery life is effectively unlimited for gaming sessions โ charge it weekly and never think about it
โ ๏ธ Worth Knowing
- No active noise cancellation โ the passive isolation from the closed-back design is good but not comparable to dedicated ANC headphones for travel or office use
- Primarily designed for PC and PlayStation โ Xbox users need Bluetooth mode which reduces range and adds minor latency
- Lacks EQ app customization compared to some gaming competitors โ the sound signature is fixed and relies on hardware quality rather than software tuning
The HyperX Cloud III Wireless is the gaming headset for Canadian PC and PlayStation players who want low-latency wireless audio without compromise. The 100-hour battery, accurate positional audio, and 2.4GHz connection solve the three problems that make gaming headsets frustrating. It's not the right choice for travel or office use โ it's purely built for gaming and it does that exceptionally well.
