Took it to the beach, a little sand got in it, maybe moisture from the beach itself, whatever. I shower with it in the bathroom and my door closed (if that matters). It didn’t start sounding this bad until October. I’ve tried everything from resetting the speaker, restarting my phone, repairing my speaker to my phone, and updating my speaker.

When I tried the xtreme 4 after the charge 6, I was very disappointed because the xtreme 4 didn't feel louder and the bass wasn't much more punchy.

I actually think the Xtreme 4 is the best looking out of the Xtreme lineup. ... But I do own the Xtreme 4, and sound wise it is underwhelming. I expected a lot more, especially at its retail price. ... At $400 though, I really don’t see the value in either the Xtreme 4 or 5. ... Honestly, the Xtreme series makes sense at about 50% of retail. At full price, I think it’s a hard pass.

I can say at least that the xtreme 5 was the right way, there is absolutely no advantajes of having 2 small woofers instead of a big one, really the size pf the xtreme 4 didn’t gave the advantages of stereo sound, and th 5 does have more bass but still its cristal clear sound, at least if you hive it a good eq, for the bb4, ive heard that it only distorted on the first firmware, not really now

I just got an xtreme 4 and it works well for me. ... Its loud enough and sounds good enough for me. Battery lasts long enough that I dont have to plug it in at all over 8-10 hours, which is nice, along with it being cheaper than the 5

They're a piece of s**t. I replaced a boom plus with this crap. ... I bought another boom plus and the 2 pluses are way better than extreme 4.

I think for being in a factory you need as much power as possible. Probably lots of noise going on, etc… while the Charge is absolutely amazing, something in your use case is gonna need the power and loudness so I think it’s a no brainer to do an Xtreme 4 or if u can swing a great deal maybe a Boombox 3?

I have both, and tldr, the charge 6 is a mini xtreme 4. It’s very filling, and has a good battery life. It supports lossless through type c, and for the price I got it for, very nice

Yes The X5 is much better than the Xtreme 4 and Charge 6. ... I don’t think you’d be disappointed, and this is coming from a person who returned the X4 because I was not impressed with that at all compared to my Charge 6, as u mentioned.

✅ What Works

  • Battery life and the built-in powerbank draw genuine praise, with one owner comparing a cheaper JBL model favorably as "a mini xtreme 4" with "good battery life"
  • First-impression excitement is real for new owners unboxing the speaker
  • Styling stands out, with one owner calling it "the best looking out of the Xtreme lineup"

⚠️ Worth Knowing

  • Sound quality is the most-discussed theme (7 of 15 mentions) and often underwhelms — several owners found it no louder or bassier than JBL's cheaper Charge 6
  • Durability complaints surface too, including a report of sound quality degrading months after minor beach exposure that resets and troubleshooting couldn't fix
  • Value is questioned at full price, with one owner calling it "a hard pass" at $400+ and suggesting it's worth buying only at a steep discount
  • The dual-woofer driver layout draws skepticism from some owners who feel a single larger woofer (as on the Xtreme 5) performs better
ClearPick Verdict

Owners report a mixed picture, with **nine of fifteen mentions leaning negative** against six positive, and durability concerns surfacing alongside sound-quality disappointment. Sound quality drove the most discussion at seven of fifteen mentions, with several owners saying the Xtreme 4 sounded underwhelming next to cheaper JBL models like the Charge 6, and one noting the bass wasn't much punchier despite the price jump. A smaller but pointed thread covers durability, including one owner whose speaker's sound quality degraded months after light beach exposure, unresolved after resets and troubleshooting. Price also drew criticism, with one reviewer calling the Xtreme 4 "a hard pass" at full retail and suggesting it only makes sense at roughly half price. **Buyers chasing all-day battery life and a built-in powerbank may still find value here, but anyone expecting a dramatic sound upgrade over JBL's cheaper speakers, or worry-free long-term durability, should look elsewhere or wait for a discount.**
