Honestly the A9+ 8GB/128GB version is very fast, I always remind folks to turn off Ram Plus because it will actually slow down the device. 90hz refresh rate is nice in ***theory***, yet in **REAL WORLD** use you find it's a variable refresh rate and 80% time you only get 60hz as 90hz is reserved specifically for gaming and things of that nature.
I ended up going with the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ (11 inch screen) (model SM-X210). My youngest has only had it about a month. I still have mixed feelings about the size. It's so big compared to their older siblings tablet... Pros - I'm happy that it's a Samsung, since all our devices are Samsung! It makes it easier for my my older child to "teach" the younger one how to navigate the tablet... Cons - Really for me the only con is the size! My youngest child doesn't seem to mind though. Although my older child doesn't like the bigger size, and told me they'd rather keep their 8 inch tablet than upgrade to the newer 11 inch.
The tab A9+ is my first tablet. Never been a tablet guy. I love it. I only play runescape or cod mobile on it, but add an Xbox controller and its pretty fun ripping cod.
Yes, the A9+ is still a good tablet even though it has been discontinued and will no longer be getting updates. In the US you should be able to find new ones in open boxes starting at about $120 on eBay and elsewhere.
I got my daughter one. She's had both variants because the first one I got her was 100% laggy I returned it. The one with better specs while still lags not nearly as much as the one with worse specs
I'm currently using the A17 5G and the Tab A9+ and they both hold up very well for what I use them for.
Very good. I have an A55 along with an A9 Plus, I miss having more possibilities between the two, but it's perfectly usable.
I have the A9 Plus with the 8GB configuration and same chipset. For basic streaming web surfing and social media browsing, it'll do the job. I'm not sure how well it'll do at gaming especially the higher end games. Just maneuvering around the menus is a bit slow and the animations of the window transitions get slow and choppy.
Loved my A9+ but it was too heavy in a case to be a reader like I needed.
I guess it has 8 gigs. It's definitely a lot less laggy than the 4gb model
I'll probably get the A11+ just because I like the A series tablets for what they are... (and I'll keep the A9+ as I really like it honestly)
✅ What Works
- Fast and responsive for everyday tasks and mobile gaming
- Exceptional value for money
- Bright 11-inch display great for media and multitasking
- Samsung ecosystem integration and multi-window support
⚠️ Worth Knowing
- Performance varies significantly between units; some buyers received laggy models
- Noticeably heavy in a protective case for extended use
- 90Hz refresh rate is variable in real use, often locked to 60Hz
- Larger screen size divisive—too big for some users
Owners consistently praise the Galaxy Tab A9+ for its speed and excellent value, with many reporting it handles everyday streaming and gaming smoothly. Performance proves inconsistent across units, however—some buyers received laggy models requiring returns, and the advertised 90Hz refresh rate typically locks to 60Hz in real use. The 11-inch screen draws mixed reactions: great for media and multitasking, but noticeably heavy in a protective case for sustained holding. Buy it if you want solid everyday performance and can tolerate the unit variation lottery; avoid if you need guaranteed snappy performance or maximum portability.
