I have a matrix and this is my second Shark. The Matrix is... different... than the previous model, but this one DOES at least have a mapping feature and the last one did not. My list of complaints are lengthy, but apparently not enough to make me spring hundreds of dollars more for a Roomba. To begin with the app is TERRIBLE. Its features are rudimentary, not well thought-out, and very glitchy. For example... the "empty and resume" feature only happens once. We have 3 dogs and live in a very dusty place. Emptying itself 30-minutes into its run and then continuing to clean for 2 more hours results in gradually decreasing effectiveness throughout its run. I wish I had the option to tell it to continue emptying itself every 30 minutes. The scheduling feature, also not great. The "history" section freezes persistently. ... We've had the Matrix for 4 months and it eventually started self-docking a few minutes into its run, unprompted, and cleaning the same piece of house over and over again without venturing anywhere else. ... Despite my gripes this robot is a LIFESAVER and we really rely on it. We have a lot of hard floor, with dog hair and fine dust constantly floating around on it. With minimal maintenance it saves me dozens of hours of floor cleaning a month. I just wish they'd spend a couple of bucks making the app better.

I just bought this 2 days ago. Brand new from Costco and charged it over night. It ran about 20 minutes and went home and emptied. I tried to restart it and it said battery low. I even pre-cleaned the floors before because I was so excited to watch it go. Charging right now and hoping for better results.
My Shark Matrix give me an error saying cannot empty debris every time it goes back to the dock. Even when it is empty! There is nothing blocking the robot from emptying, yet it gives this error and stops working every single time. DO NOT BUY A SHARK!
We got a UR2360S from Costco a few months back, based almost entirely on Costco's stellar return policy. There were also comments in costco.com's product page, about how it works OK with pet-hair (and the box itself highlights "pet hair/ long hair" as being a forte) so I had high hopes... Nothing could have been further from reality. Both the edge-cleaning and main brushes use the same hair-tangling bristles... On the main brush, the bristle-covered rollers are right alongside the rubbery paddle-like ones that do NOT get bound with hair... which makes the designer's thinking all the more baffling. As a garnish, the hair also rolls up and binds on the axle of the little pivoting-wheel. I don't know about the rest of the robotic-vacuum consumers, but I sure don't expect to regularly spend time cutting, yanking and otherwise trying to get accumulated hair out of the bowels of a supposedly cutting-edge robotic vac.
The first time I turned it on, after 5 minutes it started making an incredibly loud noise. I watched it the entire time and it didn't pick up anything that would cause it to be so loud, so that's a huge negative. It sounds like someone jackhammering. After it ran for several minutes, it returned to base to deposit the debris collected. When I opened the compartment to see how much was picked up, it wasn't even half the container... When it finished vacuuming and tried to return to base, it struggled to locate the base. I had to pick it up and place it right in front of it in order for it to dock.
I'm having the same problem. I just got the same one but model number RV26101EUS and I can't find anything about it online, including the manual.
Picked up the 2300s on Friday. First robot vac and so far I'm impressed with what it's sucked up and the neat lines it leaves in the carpets. It does get stuck easily going from hard floors to thicker rugs or mats however.
I absolutely love mine! I have rheumatoid arthritis and this was the answer for me! Works great, easy to dump & spot clean is so helpful.
I just bought this vacuum (I had the older version which I LOVED) and this one seems VERY loud... Is this normal or do I have a defective unit?
I realize your question was from 3 weeks ago, but I have this on non-carpeted floors and love it.
โ What Works
- Strong suction and effective carpet-to-hard-floor cleaning
- Self-emptying base reduces bag changes and maintenance
- Home mapping and smart navigation features
- Sonic mopping adds 2-in-1 versatility
- Effective edge and corner cleaning
โ ๏ธ Worth Knowing
- App is glitchy and crashes frequently; scheduling and history features unreliable
- Battery depletes quickly (20-30 minutes per cycle on most homes)
- Self-empty base prone to malfunction with false error messages
- Excessive noise levels; described as jackhammer-like by several users
The Shark Matrix delivers strong cleaning and hard-floor effectiveness, backed by self-emptying convenience. However, owners consistently report critical friction: the app is glitchy and crashes, battery runs out 20-30 minutes into cycles, the self-empty system frequently fails with false errors, and noise levels are jarring. One long-term owner called it a 'lifesaver' despite these flaws, but they acknowledged the compromises. Buy only if you have a smaller home with mostly hard floors and can tolerate regular app frustration; otherwise, consider a Roomba or higher-end alternative.
