Sony MDR-7506

As a guy that is younger than this headphone history, I like the sound quite a lot. There is a saying if you can made a decent mix on this, it will sound good on others speaker/headphone. It present bass, mid, high equally that they are always present and never overpower each other. It sound really flat regardless how the frequency graph show. When the song go high, it went really high. At this point MDR-7506/good song will have enough bass to balance it out. So it never sound harsh to me.

Sony 7506 are genuinely fantastic, I do wish they had removable cables but they sound fantastic for the price

I live with these for my job, have worn them 8 hours a day since 2019. Really like them for a basic no-frills work headphone and for monitoring spoken-word/editing video. Really just a tool since they’re so ubiquitous in the industry.

The MDR 7506 is not for everyone, I am in the opposite, I loved them to bits and had 18 pairs of them to play and test with. ... With that said, the MDR 7506 is not trash like you said, maybe you should have worded it more without the aggressiveness in tone, I get that you don’t like it but there no need for that. It is an industry standard headphone for a reason and by your own words, are you saying all the pros using this in music studios or broadcasting stations have bad ears and should trash them like you do?

Andrew Scheps loves the MDR 7506's so they are a good reliable pair of headphones. If he can mix in them then so can you — just get to know them (listen to a ton of music you like on them).

I love mine. ... Not saying you’re wrong, sound is subjective, maybe not a good match for your gear and tastes, but lots and lots of people have enjoyed these for a long time. Maybe they’re all wrong and you’ve figured this out once and for all, but that seems unlikely.

When I first heard them I couldn’t believe how good they sounded, especially for the price and without the need for an amp to drive them. I even prefer them to my HD6XX which I had known and loved for a long time.

I'm a music producer. They're made for that.. ... They're to hear the \*true tones\* of whatever you're listening to. Nothing is changed, the sound is neutralized as in you're hearing it as it is. ... They are monitoring headphones. It says it on the top. We use them for mixing and mastering.

If your budget is only 100 those headphones will serve you well as far as mixing and mastering on headphones go but if you save up even with studio monitors even without acoustic treatment will be a huge step up and are definitely worth it lp6’s are cheap monitors and are amazing for the price

I'm actually surprised (and happy) they still make this legend. ... Props to them.
