Bought the XGIMI Hai + a few weeks ago - knew that the old gen Halo had Netflix issues, so was hoping that with the new product this would have been fixed... unfortunately the issue seems to not have been resolved... The Netflix app / channel was pre-installed on the Halo Plus, and when attempting to stream (anything) the "Your account cannot be used on this device" error message occurs. ... Don't understand how this is still an issue...

This whole refresh is lame, honestly. Existing customers don't get Netflix, and even the new horizon projectors are still stuck on Android TV with no Netflix.

"Existing customer" is a non-existent concept at Xgimi. You are not a customer, you are merely a closed sale. Lack of repairability and awful software => ๐Ÿšฉ and wish it becomes illegal.

Damn, I was hoping they were going to do a real update to the halo + not a software iteration.

Following a very bad experience with Xgimi, I advise you never to buy a device from them. Their products are okay when they're new, but afterwards it's a disaster. I contacted customer service, who are very incompetent (Trustpilot review). I wanted to return my Halo+ item, still under warranty, for repair, and they refused to create a return label for me! I had to pay for the return shipping from France to Germany! I sent it back, but the carrier lost the package, which wasn't insured. Now they refuse to send me a replacement, even though I followed their procedure. ... The product cost me โ‚ฌ700. A consumer alert has been issued, and I will be taking legal action because they are responsible.

If you want to watch 3D movies (Side-by-Side or Top-and-Bottom) through Youtube or 3D Video files, it works fine. Original 3D-Blu-Rays are also possible via HDMI, but there is a flickering issue when they are scenes, which will switch from dark to bright pictures (for example chapter 16 on Avatar 3D-Blu-Ray Disc). You will see the flickering for 1 second also without using 3D glasses, so you can ve sure, the problem is not from the 3D glasses itself.

Damn i thought laser would always be a clear winner but thats a big difference in picture quality, i dont think a software update will help that much..im canceling the capsule order snd changing to xgimi!

This worked. ... And for anyone wondering - it doesn't require you to open 100 apps every time you want to launch Netflix. It actually installs it to your Android apps just like regular apps.

For me desktop manager app has stopped working recently with a message that Netflix does not support

I have the same issue with a different (newer) XGIMI projector. ... No more "Desktop Manager" workaround, that thing is just not good. The subtitles don't work correctly, the old app is crippled!

I compared the characteristics of the Halo Plus New and the Halo Plus, and I really donโ€™t see the difference. They both have the same brightness, same functions, same options. ... And maybe a slightly faster CPU? Honestly, my Halo Plus runs smoothly enough, and Iโ€™m not sure I would even notice a difference with a better CPU.

Actually I bought my first Halo this year and so far it works really well. The most attractive characteristics for me are the harman/kardon in-built speaker and the 1080P. These two contribute a lot (high-quality sound and clear big screen) when you enjoy a movie lying on the sofa after one-day work.

In comparison to the cheap amazon projectors I really don't see the hype, The quality and brightness is practically the same, the only positive is see is the lower fan noise and the auto key stone. The amazon vanvo projector has better sound also. I'm annoyed as the vanvo cost me ยฃ80 where the xgimi was ยฃ600.

The picture quality (colours, contrast and sharpness) are excellent for the price. Very easy to position/set-up. The sound is very good from such a small device. ... runs silently ( No fan noise) ... Only real criticism is that it only has one HDMI port

We absolutely love our Halo +, it puts out a nice bright picture especially when plugged in and the portability is an excellent niche use case. ... The sounds is actually very good, especially for the size. No external speaker needed, its design gives it a nice 360 experience. ... Ultimately, I love this projector, we still use it all the time when watching in bed or at dinner.

โœ… What Works

  • MEMC motion smoothing is reported to eliminate soap-opera effect during playback
  • Harman Kardon speaker output is described as clean and bass-capable
  • Compact, battery-powered design is reported to travel well for outdoor or room-to-room use
  • General picture quality and brightness draw favorable comparisons in owner discussions

โš ๏ธ Worth Knowing

  • The pre-installed Netflix app reportedly throws an "account cannot be used on this device" error, a licensing issue described as unresolved across multiple Halo hardware generations
  • Some owners report a difficult after-sales experience, including a warranty return/repair request where a lost return shipment was reportedly not replaced
  • 3D Blu-ray playback is reported to flicker during dark-to-bright scene transitions
  • The most recent refresh was described by some existing owners as a minor software iteration rather than a substantive hardware upgrade
ClearPick Verdict

Reports on the XGIMI Halo+ **split sharply between hardware praise and software frustration**, with 9 of 16 mentions tipping negative. Owners describe MEMC motion smoothing that reportedly fixes soap-opera effect and a compact, Harman Kardon-equipped design that travels well on its 2.5-hour battery, but the recurring complaint isn't picture quality โ€” it's the Netflix app throwing an "account cannot be used on this device" error that reportedly persists across hardware generations. A second, separate thread involves after-sales treatment: multiple accounts describe warranty returns and repairs handled poorly, including a customer left without a working unit after XGIMI reportedly declined to replace a lost return shipment. Buyers who mainly want portable brightness paired with an external streaming stick may be satisfied; **anyone relying on native Netflix playback or expecting responsive support if something breaks should treat those reports as a real risk before buying.**
