I recently started using an 18oz Yeti Rambler with Hot Shot lid and Iโ€™ve been pretty happy with it. Definitely leak proof (it rolled across my car floor yesterday).

I've had the opposite experience. I carry the 20oz Rambler travel mug in my backpack to work everyday, and while there is no major spillage, but it leaks a little bit of coffee into my backpack each day.

I liked my Yeti (20oz rambler), but I didn't love it. The lid was great, but it honestly did a mediocre job keeping things hot even if I "prewarmed" it. On the other side I have an Rtic travel mug that I keep in my RV. The lid is absolute garbage but despite being much thinner it keeps drinks hot for much longer.

I've been using the Rambler for years and have yet to have it spill on me.

โœ… What Works

  • Long-term durability, reported by an owner still using the same mug a decade later (1 mention, 43 upvotes)
  • Leakproof lid performance, cited across separate reports of zero spills even under rough handling (2 mentions)

โš ๏ธ Worth Knowing

  • One user reported a slow lid leak into a backpack during daily commutes โ€” but this reads as an isolated incident, with other long-term owners specifically pushing back and reporting no spills over years of use (1 mention)
  • Thermal retention was called merely mediocre by one reviewer comparing it unfavorably to a thinner competitor's lid (1 mention)
ClearPick Verdict

Owners on r/BuyItForLife **report using the same Rambler for a decade without failure**, and several describe the Stronghold lid as leakproof enough to survive rolling across a car floor. One owner reported a persistent slow leak into their backpack, but this reads as an isolated case that other longtime owners specifically pushed back on, and thermal retention drew a more lukewarm reaction than the durability claims. **This suits commuters who want a mug built to outlast daily abuse over one that holds max heat** โ€” buyers chasing all-day scalding retention should look elsewhere.
