Breville Smart Oven Pro (BOV845BSS)

Best Convection Toaster Oven

The Breville Smart Oven Pro is the flagship countertop oven in Canada โ€” a full step up from the Compact with five quartz heating elements (vs four), an interior oven light so you can actually see your food, a slow cook function, and a larger capacity that fits a 13-inch pizza or 9-slice toast. Element IQ technology still intelligently directs power across all five elements based on what you're cooking, and 10 preset functions cover everything from toast and bake to roast, slow cook, and broil.

We use the big oven for holiday meals for six to eight people. Otherwise, it never gets turned on. The Breville does it all for the two of us.

Heeey! I own this oven, whattya know. It's by far the greatest mini oven I've ever owned. I bake fish, cookies, chicken nuggets, asparagus, you name it. I toast, I roast, I broil. Reheating? It's brilliant. Throw your leftovers in foil (specifically, curries & pastas, which I eat a lot of. Maybe reheat your soup in a pot?) set it for ten minutes, come back to perfectly reheated food.

I have that same piece of expensive impossible to find parts for piece of crap appliance. Ours started to sound like a jet engine but no flickering lights, turned out to be the convection fan dying, a common problem with those particular expensive impossible to find parts for piece of crap machines. I turn off convection mode and it works fine for an expensive impossible to find parts for piece of crap.

Uneven and slow. Granted I've only tried my own bread so it might differ with commercial bread. One half will be well browned and the other less so, and same with the top and bottom. I also always have to use the highest toast setting to get to a moderate brown. It is pretty consistent from one time to the next

The appliance is already 5 years old so its out of warranty. I'm wondering now if it will be worth trying to fix it or if I'll have to replace it. I was hoping Breville would have lasted longer than this.

Air frying in the Breville is messy and it is not as good as a much cheaper dedicated air fryer. My recommendation is buy the Breville to use as a convection oven for anything that will fit in it. If you want to regularly air fry, buy a dedicated appliance.

I have a couple 1/8 sheet NordicWare aluminum pans that I use for pretty much everything in my Breville Smart Oven. They are fantastic for smaller items and broiling (think sausages, etc..).

I use 1/4 sheet pans in my Breville and they fit perfect. I am also able to use a smaller rectangle Pyrex and the 9x9 Pyrex easily. Additionally, I have a cast iron pan that fits in it that I use from roasting chicken. It is strange that it didn't come with a 2nd rack. Mine did (Smart Oven Air), but maybe it is a bigger size. I do recommend getting an additional rack. It makes life so much easier. I love my Breville and use it multiple times a day. Enjoy yours!

I have this same oven and use it everyday. I use the broiler pan they comes with it and a 1/4 sheet pan. I just made baked potatoes tonight and tilapia all in this oven. I also have the top of the line microwave which is equally snazzy!

โœ… What Works

  • Convection fan distributes heat evenly โ€” dramatically improves baking and roasting vs. non-convection
  • Slow Cook mode turns it into a 6-hour low-and-slow cooker for braises and stews
  • Interior light and window let you monitor without heat loss
  • Full-size enough to fit a 13-inch pizza or a small roasting pan

โš ๏ธ Worth Knowing

  • ~$300+ CAD is a significant investment for a countertop oven
  • Large footprint takes up meaningful counter real estate
ClearPick Verdict

The Smart Oven Pro is the best full-featured countertop oven in Breville's lineup. If you're replacing a conventional oven or supplementing it for speed, the convection and slow cook functions make it genuinely useful beyond toast. Excellent for apartment cooks who want oven-quality results.
