Yeah this was my experience after adding ambient tv lighting. Super fun at first, cool for music videos (that deadmau5 track is great btw), but just annoying for 95% of content

Yes, mine have all been rock solid. I've still got 7 of their devices but have stopped buying Govee and pretty much use only WLED for everything else. I've even converted a few Govee to WLED.
I enjoyed mine, my only gripe was lack of warm white. When watching TV, or even at my computer monitor, the bright lights contrasting with the dark background kinda hurts my eyes.
I have this issue myself and have dealt with it before with a Corsair keyboard and the problem is that there are too little colors that are in between the transitions. ... The RGBIC strips are capable of it, its only a question whether Govee's app lets you add more colors in between.
I noticed that the Rainbow DIY mode on speeds lower than ~90โ of the "Speed" bar will have a more rough color transition than smooth ones as seen in something like "Fade", where the choppiness is far less noticeable at speeds as low as ~45โ .
I found them less annoying when 1. Dim them down to about 10% ish brightness of the screen 2. Reduce the flashing from when panning shots or things move off screen by enabling/Increasing backlight level. 3. If you still find it too distracting, trythe mode where it only shows a single colour at any given time.
I love mine, had em for years and it does enhance to content IMO. Easy to set up and automation to turn it on with the TV too. However, sometimes it disables WiFi for some reason and I have to use the Govee app to get it going again.
Even without the dynamic coloring, simple white bias lighting really enhances the viewing experience, in my opinion.
It only changes color in the segments of 3 leds, if you want individually addressable ones, I would look at a diy solution with wled.
The Govee RGBIC LED Strip is the best-value entry point for RGBIC multicolor lighting โ $49 CAD buys multicolor effects, a large app effect library, music sync with a built-in mic, and Alexa/Google voice control. The lack of Matter and HomeKit support limits it to non-Apple households, and the cloud dependency is worth knowing. For Alexa or Google users on a budget, it's a strong value pick.
