Temperature varies from preset — not precise…
I measured it with a thermometer. The 175°F preset hit 172°F twice and 181°F once. Close enough for tea but not if you're obsessive about precision.

Source: RedditKeep Warm only lasts 30 minutes…
30 minutes keep warm and it shuts off. If I'm steeping multiple batches of tea on a Saturday afternoon I'm reheating every 30 minutes. Wish it was longer.
Source: Amazon reviewerExterior feels plasticky for the price…
The inside is stainless but the outside is plastic and feels it. Doesn't bother me functionally but my partner hates how it looks on the counter.
Source: Amazon reviewerWater level window is hard to read…
The level markings are on one side and faint. I consistently overfill it because I can't see the line clearly. Minor but annoying for daily use.
Source: Amazon reviewerThe Hamilton Beach Variable Temperature Kettle is the best-value electric kettle for Canadians who want accurate temperature presets for tea and coffee without paying premium pricing. At $39 it delivers the five temperatures that matter, a stainless interior, 1500W boil speed, and Keep Warm functionality — everything essential to a variable kettle, nothing unnecessary. Temperature precision isn't laboratory-grade, but it's more than adequate for every practical tea and coffee application at a price that's hard to argue with.
