I bought this over the base Duo for the extra features but I've never used sterilize or sous vide. In hindsight I'd save the $20.

"The sterilize function is the reason I bought this over the base Duo. I use it for canning and baby bottle sterilizing. Worth every cent of the upgrade."

"LCD display is much clearer than my old Duo. Being able to see time remaining from across the kitchen is actually useful."

"Made chicken breast sous vide in it. Not as precise as my Anova but for weeknight cooking the result was perfectly juicy at 145°F."

"The steam release valve is less messy than my old Instant Pot — no more soup splattering on the cabinet above it during quick release."

Source: RedditSous vide isn't precise enough for steak…
The sous vide function runs about 2 degrees inconsistent. For chicken it's fine but I wouldn't use it for steak — I'll stick to my dedicated circulator.

Cooked chili last week, yogurt this week. Could taste the chili in the yogurt. Same ring problem as every other Instant Pot. Buy a second ring immediately.

The blue LCD display is hard to read unless you're looking at it straight on. From across the kitchen I can't tell what's on the screen.
Source: Amazon reviewerThe Instant Pot Duo Plus is a strong upgrade from the base Duo for home canners and anyone who wants sous vide functionality in a pot they already own. For everyone else, the $20 premium over the base Duo buys functions most users won't use regularly. As a standalone product it's an excellent 9-in-1 multi-cooker at a fair price — the pressure cooking, slow cooking, and sauté functions are identical in performance to the base model, and the LCD display is a genuine improvement.
