Cheap arms use friction clamps that loosen over time; the LX uses a calibrated spring system that maintains position indefinitely.
Thirty-four-inch monitor support and 25 lbs weight capacity covers virtually every mainstream monitor. Most monitor arms top out at 27 inches or 17 lbs, which excludes ultrawide monitors. The LX handles them without issue.
The integrated cable channels run from the desk mount through every joint to the monitor, keeping HDMI, DisplayPort, and USB cables completely hidden inside the arm. Cable management that would otherwise require clips and ties is solved by the arm's design.

⚠️ Worth Knowing

The LX is designed for monitors up to 25 lbs. Heavier monitors — like some larger ultrawide curved panels — may require adjustment of the internal spring tension with an Allen key. Ergotron provides instructions and a torque setting guide.
The c-clamp requires desk thickness between 0.4 and 3.4 inches to mount. Most standard desks work, but glass desks and some floating desk designs won't accommodate the c-clamp — use the grommet mount if your desk has a grommet hole.
The LX doesn't fold fully flat — at minimum extension, the monitor is still about 2.5 inches in front of the mount. If you want the monitor flush with the wall on a very shallow desk, this may be slightly farther out than ideal.
Ergotron makes the OEM version of several Amazon Basics and HP monitor arms. The LX is the premium original with better finish quality, but if budget is tight, the Amazon Basics arm uses similar internals at lower cost.

Common complaints

Spring needs adjustment for lighter monitors…

Installed with a 22-inch 10-lb monitor and it kept rising on its own. Adjusting the internal spring with the included Allen key fixed it, but the instructions could be clearer.
